Essential Software Skills (M, 7:15-8:15 pm)

LEVEL 101

In just ten weeks, this class will cover basic skills used in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint including understanding where to save and how to find your files, basic elements of the ribbon and tool bars, and simple composition in each application. This is an ideal class for beginners to get a taste of Microsoft apps before continuing on to other classes.

Level 101 classes are designed for students who have already tried out  learning in a virtual classroom over Zoom. We expect that you have an email address and know how to send and receive email. Intro to Google Workspace (M, 7:15 - 8:15 pm)

LEVEL 101

Students cover the basics of Google Workspace: setting up professional email for those without email, signing in and out of a Google account and navigating to commonly used applications like Google Drive, Google Sheets, Google Docs. Google Calendar, and Google Slides. The differences and similarities between Google and Microsoft Office products will be explained. Students will also learn to collaborate with others, identify the design features of Google Drive, create, upload, save and share documents, files, and folders. A working knowledge of the most common applications, basic purpose of the applications, capacities, and limitations will be developed by students.

Level 101 classes are designed for students who have already tried out  learning in a virtual classroom over Zoom. We expect that you have an email address and know how to send and receive email. This class is designed for students who speak English as a second language and have a comprehension level of approximately 4th or 5th grade. We will be practicing speaking English in a group setting, as well as practicing writing, grammar, and email etiquette. The goal of this class is to become more fluent in English speaking and writing and help use it in your day-to-day interaction and communication with others.
